Steven M. Thomas
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
Watching God’s plan unfold in the lives of our students, our families, our teachers and our school is the source of much joy. When I was young, I had the opportunity to attend Lutheran schools and as an adult, I have seen the benefits of a Christ centered education in the lives of many. We live in a world with many challenges and many opportunities. At Mount Rainier Lutheran High School, we strive to provide a place of learning where students can achieve excellence, understand challenges and explore opportunities and embrace their futures with the hope God promises.
After graduating from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska I taught 5th & 6th grade at St. Mark’s Lutheran School in Yonkers, New York. A move back to Washington began thirty years in public education including teaching and coordinating special education. I received my masters in school administration from Pacific Lutheran University. The last twenty years were spent as a high school administrator. I served on the board of directors for Mount Rainier Lutheran High School until being appointed as principal.
When not at Mount Rainier Lutheran High School I enjoy spending time with my wife Sherri, our children and grandchildren. I like riding
my Harley to school in the spring and water skiing on American Lake in the summer.
